To participate in an Orion’s Quest mission there has traditionally been a one-time $50 fee to join and a fee of $100 per mission. While these fees are only a small part of the per school cost, they do contribute to our budget and are important as a commitment from the school.
They provide for required materials and equipment, curriculum development, certificates of participation and the management of the Orion’s Quest website. It is important to note that we have never turned a school away because of these fees as we have been able to meet the need with scholarship money.
If your school or district is able to pay all or part of these fees, it would be greatly appreciated. If your school or district is unable to pay these fees, you will still be able to participate. However, we may ask for is a little help in raising some support in your area to help with costs. This could be as simple as providing us with the names of service clubs, businesses or individuals who might be willing to make a donation.
We would be happy to make the contacts and do what is necessary to work with these potential donors. In the end we think you will be surprised how interested and excited people will be when told about the experience your students will have in support of NASA’s human space exploration studies.
